Every time I look at my phone, this is what my eyes see.
Let me make this clear. This is not the kind of blurriness you get when you have myopia or astigmatism. No glasses or contacts will make this sharper! This is the way my vision permanently is, 8 months after the surgery.
I'm in a unique position to compare and describe the difference since I chose (gratefully) to do one eye at a time. The vast majority of people do both at the same time, and I can only imagine what it's like to wonder if it's your vision that's blurry, or if the problem is with the screen your looking it.
And because the recovery (for PRK, at least) is so slow and gradual, it's possible they won't even notice if their vision never gets back to the pre-surgery level of sharpness.
I expected I'd be coming back within 3 months (as advertised) to get my second eye done. But I kept waiting. And waiting.
My vision did improve over time, but it plateaued around the 4 month mark, and I started getting really scared.
It's been 8 months since the surgery, and it has not improved one bit in the last 4 months.
I’m forever grateful that I only chose to do one eye and then wait. I have come to accept the fact that I will probably only be able to see such intricate details with my virgin eye (with glasses/contacts on and the operative eye closed). It’s a hassle, but certainly better than losing that ability forever. I’m also grateful that I have the financial resources needed to see other professionals in the hopes of finding a remedy, after being abandoned my my surgeon, Dr Craig Bindi.
This is a placeholder. But I will come back when I have more time and tell the full horrors of my story, and how I was practically kicked out of Craig Bindi's LASIK clinic when I came back to see him with blurry vision 7 months after the surgery, and how he has since then ignored my pleads for help.
